The monday evening church club generally meets at 5:00 PM every Monday evening. The church club was started following the events of 9/11/01 and was initially held in the basement of the Dexter City UMC. In the winter of 2001, we began having our meetings in the homes of some of our parishoners. In the summer of 2002, Paul Hicks had a heart attack. The church club was started following the events of 9/11/01 and was initially held in the basement of the Dexter City UMC. At the Monday Night Church Club, we generally start with some informal singing of hymns and choruses with guitar, keyboard, dulcimer, and harpsichord accompaniment. As the evening progresses, we break for snacks and a time of fellowship before concluding with a round of Bible Trivia and a prayer circle. As the evening is informally- structured, people come and go whenever they are able and guests are encouraged to come "as they are". |
Some of our favorite hymns are: "When We All Get to Heaven", "I'll Fly Away", "Consider the Lilies", "Life's Railway to Heaven", "Life's Evening Sun", "O Come Angel Band", and "Did You Think to Pray?" In August and September of 2002, we had a couple of picnics at Phil & Caroline Davis' private campground. These consisted of the regular course of events from the Monday Night Church Club in addition to roasting wieners and marshmallows. |
